Tour brief description
Tour for two to 15 persons from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Riviera Maya.
In early morning we’ll go out. Our destiny: Holbox island. First we’ll arrive to Chiquila port, Quintana Roo and will cross during 30 minutes the Yalahau lagoon on ferry to arrive to Holbox. There, we’ll do a ride on boat for 6 hours long in open sea between the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean until arrive to the whale sharks area.
Swimming in open sea next to this peaceful and big fish is worth it. It’s an indescribable experience. Later, on the same boat, we’ll go to a zone where we can see fishes, turtles, stingrays, cat sharks, and with a little piece of luck, dolphins jumping out of the water. It will be like visiting an aquarium.
Next we’ll go back to Holbox, where we’ll do a trip into the center of the city to see its famous street art spaces and we’ll go to a beach club to eat, rest and enjoy the calm waves of the sea.
In every moment our certified guide will explain you the place stories, curious details and the development and importance of visited sites.

Itinerary
Whale shark swimming
An unforgettable experience in which is necessary to set sail very early from Holbox and even earlier from Cancún. The ride on boat is long, 6 hours long approximately. In some moments, the sea will make us do sudden jumps. Nevertheless, when the captain allows us, we can eat a morning snack to be ready to swim close to this peaceful and big shark.
From 1:30 and 2:30 hours after leaving Holbox the reward will have been worth everything. We can’t promise the shark will be waiting for us and posing for our cameras, but we’ll do our best to see them closely. This beautiful creature is big and go away fast, that’s why the minutes in contact with it are very valuable.
We’ll receive all necessary equipment: lifejacket, snorkel, goggles and fins to see the whale shark. However, do not forget, that we will be in front of a savage animal and if we want to see it closer we must swim.
Very important: the whale shark is an animal cared by Mexican authorities, that’s why if there are many boats around a sole shark we must find another one or limit us to see it from our boat. The good news is in 99% of cases we all can swim around it. Neither BTUVI.com, nor anybody can guarantee you swimming next to the whale shark.
Way back we’ll stop on Cape Catoche, where we can swim with every color marine fauna, and with a little piece of luck, even marine turtles. A perfect ending!
Holbox island
We’ll return to Holbox island, that in Mayan means “black hole”, although is a paradise full of beaches and colors, its meaning doesn’t reflect anything about the extraordinary beauty of this place.
There, in golf cars, will make a ride along the town main streets. We will know the beaches and landscapes of Punta Cocos, Faro Viejo, the letter, the Holbox dock, the hammocks and its very famous street art, finishing in a lovely beach club. Over there we will enjoy the sea, have meal and rest to finally come back to your hotel.
